The Cabins

In the fall of 2007, we completed construction of our two “off-the-grid” cabins in woods, known as “Wildflower” and “Hickory Ridge. The cabins were designed by sustainable architect/builder Gary Turner of Community Builders in Ann Arbor. In keeping with our efforts to be mindful of our use of resources, we used mainly local lumber from our neighbor’s sawmills for construction. All of the windows and doors were recycled and reused, purchased through the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

The cabins each have one bed downstairs and two beds in the loft. There is a wood stove when it’s chilly and clean, lovingly-built outhouses complete with leaded glass windows and breathtaking vistas! Bathing and sauna facilities with a private entrance are located in our home.

Our guesthouse is a small, modern cottage with a bathroom, kitchenette, electricity, and furnace. It has three double beds, a glassed-in porch, and a small flower garden.

While staying in the cabins or the little house, you can enjoy bird watching, hiking, reading, meditating, and having quiet time for reflection. You are also welcome to help in the garden if you wish.
