About Us

Priscilla Tait and Ken Fisher are the people behind the Blooming Valley Retreat. They acquired the land in 1997. They built their home, developed their garden, and over time developed the vision for their Retreat. Their shared interests has led them on a path toward sustainable living and the belief that small groups can make a difference.

Priscilla is an experienced group facilitator and is practiced in preparing and serving local, organic food. In addition to his career in health care. Ken has spent much of the past 10 years in community-based change and organizing. Both are experienced organic gardeners.

Over the past two years, they have built the Retreat, wanting to share their experience and land with like-minded people who are interested in living sustainably and pursuing peace and social justice issues. They named their Retreat after a generations-old community a few miles from their land. Once home to small farms, a post office, and a school, Blooming Valley faded away many years ago. There is a new movement of people in this area who are committed to bringing back local family farms and living sustainably, and the Retreat honors both the old and new efforts to realize this important mission.
